PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive transmitting mechanism capable of preventing the occurrence of non-uniformity of an image by suitably keeping backlash between gears even in the thermal expansion condition of the gears. SOLUTION: This drive transmitting mechanism is provided with a pair of gears (a drum gear 16 and a motor pinion 24) meshing with each other, a frame (drive upper side plate 12) for determining the position of center of rotation of one (motor pinion 24) of the paired gears 16, 24, and a shaft space securing member 13 fixed to the frame (drive upper side plate 12) in the vicinity of the center of the gear (motor pinion 24) having the determined center position of rotation to hold the other gear (drum bear 16) or a shaft (drum shaft 14) passing the center of the other gear (drum gear 16). The coefficient of linear expansion of the shaft space securing member 13 is set to a value substantially equal to the coefficient of linear expansion of at least one of the paired gears (the drum gear 16 and the motor pinion 24). |
