PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fold fast and accurately an air bag for front passenger's seat. SOLUTION: A folding device 1 folds the air bag 2 into rectangles in a first folding process and folds the same into a shape of bellows in a second folding process. In the first process, both sides of the air bag 2 are sandwiched by side part restraint phases 33, 33 while the air bag 2 is folded from the front and the rear by a front/rear restraint mechanism 35 after the air bag 2 is expanded by a fan device 27. The front/rear restraint mechanism 35 protrudes several front/rear folding plates 36a, 36b, 36c and reduces gaps between any two of them at the same time. A second folding unit 22 is mounted on each of the side part restraint plates 33, 33.
