PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact electrifying device capable of preventing the defect of image quality such as a white lateral stripe even in the case of adopting a DC applying system, and to realize the prolongation of a life by reducing the damage or the wear of an image carrier even in the case of adopting an AC applying system. SOLUTION: This electrifying device is equipped with an electrifying member 1 supported to come into contact with a body to be electrified (image carrier 4) moving in a specified direction and constituted by forming an upstream side proximate area 21 and a downstream side proximate area 22 proximate to the body to be electrified at a part adjacent to an upstream side in the rotating direction of the body to be electrified and a part adjacent to a downstream side with respect to a contact part with the body to be electrified, and a feed member feeding power to a part nearer to the downstream side proximate area than the upstream side proximate area of the electrifying member.
