PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the shaving of a body to be electrified such as a photosensitive drum caused by the increase of a discharge current and to prolong the service life of the member to be electrified by controlling a discharge current amount in a contact electrifying system to be constant regardless of the soiling or the service environment of a contact electrifying member such as an electrifying roller. SOLUTION: This electrifying device for electrifying the member to be electrified by making the electrifying member 2 to which voltage is applied abut on the member to be electrified 1 is provided with a high voltage power source 12 applying AC voltage to the electrifying member, a voltage range detection means 201 detecting the specified voltage range of the AC voltage applied to the electrifying member, and a current detection means detecting the average current outputted from the high voltage power source in the specified voltage range of the AC voltage based on output from the means 201. Then, the output from the high voltage power source is controlled so that the detected current by the current detection means may be a specified set value.
