PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a sliding material having excellent frictional properties and abrasion resistance even under an unlubricated condition by using a polytetrafluoroethylene resin as a main resin and using no lead and a sliding bearing using the same. SOLUTION: This sliding material comprises 1-30 vol.% of barium sulfate, 5-40 vol.% of a solid lubricant and a polytetrafluoroethylene resin. This sliding bearing is obtained by using the sliding material.
