PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic capable of providing a youthful finish having the texture even on the aged skin and to provide a method for producing the cosmetic. SOLUTION: This cosmetic is obtained by dispersing substances in a light- transmitting layer, extracting the light diffusion from a transmitted optical image of the light-transmitting layer and selecting a substance having >=0.5 value of LDI determined from the extracted image by using the following formula (formula) LDI=1-4π*s/p2 (wherein, s is the area of the extracted image when the light diffusion in the light-transmitting layer is extracted from the transmitted optical image of the light-transmitting layer containing the substances as an image; and p is the perimeter of the extracted image) and producing the cosmetic comprising the selected substance.
