PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel seat which is readily gripped and excellent in a fishing handleability in a gripped state. SOLUTION: A seat body part 10 of this reel sear 5 is fixed to the circumferential face of a base fishing rod 1, has a placing face 11 for placing a leg part of a reel 4 and is an approximately elliptical shape extending in the direction (right and left direction) horizontal to the placing face 11 in the cross-section perpendicular to the rod axis.
