PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a milling cutter capable of improving wear resistance in a case where a material to be cut is cut. SOLUTION: In a plane milling cutter 10 as a milling cutter, coating layers 16 formed by a high speed flame spraying method are provided on parts of the outer peripheral front surface of a main body 17. Each coating layer 16 is formed near a heel part 18 of a main body outer peripheral flank 19a and a groove part constituent surface 19b (in the range indicated by slanting lines in the figure) as parts where at least wear is most feared in the main body 17.
