PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of recovering a cellulose lower fatty acid ester resin base material in a quality capable of being recycled from a resin waste material such as a polarizing plate or the like. SOLUTION: The method for recovering the cellulose lower fatty acid ester resin base material comprises at least two steps of treating a polarizing plate resin waste material containing a polarizing film of a cellulose lower fatty acid ester as a base material by an aqueous solution containing a peroxide.
