PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that the planting posture of seedlings is easily unstabilized and there is a fear that the seedlings are not adequately planted because there is a constitution for dropping and feeding the seedlings from the lower end of a cylindrical unit and planting the seedlings in a seedling planting machine for conventionally delivering the seedlings from the lower end of the vertically long cylindrical unit one by one and plant each delivered seedling in a field in order to simply plant the seedling such as supplementary planting of the seedling in the field by a hand. SOLUTION: This seedling planting machine 1 is composed so as to deliver each seedling from the lower end of the seedling dropping guide cylinder 2 and plant the seedling in the field and is equipped with a compacting means for pressing soil on the periphery of the seedling from the lateral side and compacting the soil by moving the seedling to the lateral side relatively to the field with a moving device composed of a planting operating lever 14, a resistance plate 10 and a planting plate 5, etc., in the seedling planting machine 1. The compacting means is operated interlockingly with the rotation of a seedling holding unit 7 for delivering the seedling n from the lower end of the seedling dropping guide cylinder 2.
