PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for loading a plate-like material on a loading part so as not to lose a correction by correcting the error even when a detecting error occurs at a detector required in the case of loading the material on a loading base. SOLUTION: The method for loading the plate-like material comprises the steps of conveying the material 21 by a reception bar 49 and a conveying holding member 65 above the loading base 67 based on signals of a first detector 27, second detector 35, third detector 43, fourth detector 45, fifth detector 47 and the like, then changing holding of the material 21 by a conveying holding member 65 with that of a ruler holding member 75, contacting the member 75 for holding the material 21 with the loading base 67, moving the member 75 in a direction of an arrow K, moving a moving unit 41 in a direction of an arrow F while continuously contacting a downward side of the material 21 in a conveying direction with a ruler 69, removing the bar 49 from below the material 21, and loading the material 21 on the base 67.
