PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner in which a battery is stably arranged without increasing in size. SOLUTION: Both a motor-driven blower chamber to house a motor-driven blower and a power source chamber 19 to house a storage battery 18 between the motor-driven blower and a mounting lower recessed part 38 are provided in a case body 2 with the mounting lower recessed part 38 in the front. In the case body 2, a turning wheel 39 is provided on the front side, and traveling wheels 33 and 33 are provided on both rear sides. A lid body 3 with a mounting upper recessed part 59 in the front to cover both the mounting lower recessed part 38 from above and the upper part of the case body 2 in such a way as to be opened is rotatably provided for the case body 2. A dust collecting part 9 of which the lower edge part and upper edge part are each engaged with the mounting lower recessed part 38 and the mounting upper recessed part 59 is detachably and integrally sandwiched, fixed, and mounted between the mounting lower recessed part 38 and the mounting upper recessed part 59. As the dust collecting part 9 is the lightest, the motor-driven blower 6 is lighter than the storage battery 18, and the storage battery 18 is the heaviest among the three, the storage battery 18 is located at the approximately center of a main body case 4. It is possible to place the electric vacuum cleaner stably on a floor surface, to make it travel stably, and to improve cleaning workability as it is easily handled.
