PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distal end cap mounting device for an endoscope which reduces the pain inflicted on a subject having an endoscopic examination by making an elastic distal end cap thinner free from fear of susceptibleness to deformation. SOLUTION: A distal end cap 7 is made cylindrical to let it be loosely inserted from the tip side thereof without penetration and formed from a member harder to deform than at least the distal end cap 7 itself.
