SOLUTION: A thermal spraying gun 11 which sprays a spraying material toward the surface of the roll barrel 8a and a traverser which makes the gun 11 traverse in parallel with the axis of the roll are provided. In a state of a roll main body 8 being rotated, WC-12% Co is sprayed as the spraying material onto the surface of the roll barrel 8a by a high-speed gas flame spraying method, so as to form the sprayed coat 10 having excellent abrasion resistance and peelability.
