PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defective coiling around a bobbin of a wire material. SOLUTION: In a wire coiling apparatus 10 in which a wire material 11 is guided to the bobbin 12 arranged with collars 15A, 15B of a shape warped outward by a traverser 13 movable in the axial direction A of the bobbin and is coiled as arraying in plural steps. Collar detection sensors 25A, 25B detecting a collar position of the bobbin are arranged to the traverser at both side of the bobbin in the axial direction. Whenever the collar detection sensors detect a collar position of the bobbin, a traverse direction of the traverser is reversed.
