PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grain discharge apparatus having solved such problems that, in a grain discharge operation, when grains discharged into e.g. the tank on the loading platform of a truck intended for the discharge are filled up, the discharge operation may be necessitated to stop midway thereof; at this time, since the inside of a grain discharge auger is full of grains, if a moving transfer cylinder is put to contractive movement with this condition left intact, grains are forcedly compressed and damaged; furthermore, a considerable load falls on a motor for making such a contractive movement. SOLUTION: This grain discharge apparatus is characterized by having such a scheme that a grain sensor 25 is set up at an appropriate point inside a moving transfer cylinder 11, and a means is furnished to prohibit a contraction within the range of a given distance so that the moving transfer cylinder 11 does not make a contractive movement to the final terminal end when a grain discharge auger 12 is automatically housed, on sensing the presence of grains by the sensor 25.
