Load units (1, 2) are transferred in groups from a first conveyor (7) travelling in a first direction (5) to a second conveyor (10) travelling in a second direction, and are oriented from a given first orientation on the first conveyor into a chosen second orientation on the second conveyor. The transfer arrangement includes a rotatable transfer table (13) comprising a loop conveyor (26) in the form of a number of transport devices (30) defining a first carrier surface and a first transfer direction (27) on the table, and a roller conveyor (28) in the form of a number of transport devices (33) separated by intermediate spaces (34) that combine to define a second carrier surface and a second transfer direction (29) on the table. The loop conveyor extends into the intermediate spaces between the transport devices in the roller conveyor, and it is designed to alternate between at least one upper level and one lower level in its support surface. |
