This device welds a pack (3) or packing material (2), using a welding unit with a supply unit delivering the material (3) to it. It significant novel feature is located at the supply device (17) ahead of the welder (7), where there is a preheater (18), which raises the temperature of the region to be welded (19, 20). Also claimed is a procedure to carry out the corresponding process, in which the material is first preheated, and then welded. Preferably the welding unit has a pair of closing jaws (23) and a separating device (24). The supply unit (8) is a sheet outlet pressing against, and running in the sheet tubing (26). In the direction (17) of supply, at the open end (28) of the filling tube (16), the preheater (18) is located. It is a ring structure (32) located concentrically within the sheet tube (26). There is an electrical cable (33) connected to the ring, passing through the filling tube (16) and its shape-forming shoulder section (15). The ring (32) has the same diameter and wall thickness as the filling tube (16). The ring may concentrically surround the sheet tube. The preheater (18) has two rings (36, 37) of the same diameter. Their spacing corresponds to the separation of a pair of welding surface (38, 39) of the welder (17). The preheating device includes two infra red radiators (40, 41). It is gently oscillated, parallel to the supply direction, by a reciprocation mechanism ( 43). |
