Independent front wheel suspension comprises an auxiliary frame (8) lying transverse to the vehicle longitudinal axis (13) and supporting a steering gear (20). The frame is connected to the structure via elastic bearings (16, 17, 18, 19) spaced in the vehicle longitudinal axis between which couplings (9, 10, 11, 12) of the lower wheel guiding members (2, 3) are positioned. The rear bearings (17, 19) lie in the region of the coupling points of the steering tie rods (29, 30) which extend to the axial plane and determine the wheel position. Preferred Features: The frame has a center of gravity which is more rigid in the vehicle transverse direction and softer in the vehicle longitudinal axis.
