PURPOSE: A method for embodying a handsfree call through voice dialing in a generic telephone is provided to implement dialing and telephone conversation in a handsfree state using a generic telephone. CONSTITUTION: If a voice dial function or a handsfree function using voice dialing is set up(411), a control part activates a microphone, a voice detection part and a voice recognition part in order to get ready for a voice recognition operation(413). The control part judges whether an audio signal is inputted through the microphone(414). If the audio signal is inputted, the control part extracts a voice signal from the audio signal and judges a voice through feature extraction and voice recognition. Then the control part judges whether a matched voice among the voices registered for voice dialing exists in a database(415). If the matched voice exists, the control part controls a memory to read a relevant telephone number from a telephone number table, in which each telephone numbers corresponding to voice dialing is stored(417). Then the control part executes automatic dialing(418).
