<p>A shift control device, for a manual transmission, comprises a control shaft 3 attached to and manipulated by a shift lever (see fig 1). The control shaft 3 transmits motion to a shift rail 5 via a finger 1 engaged in a lug 7 having gaps p1 and p2 which provide clearance to the finger 1. These gaps P1, P2, on either side of finger 1, prevent vibrations being transmitted from inside the transmission, via the shift rail 5 and control shaft 3, to the shift lever. Movement of the control shaft 3 and shift rail 5 is blocked by detents 21, 29 having a spring loaded detent ball or roller engaging detent grooves 15, 25 in the control shaft 3 and shift rail 5, thereby maintaining the gaps P1, P2 on either side of the finger 1.</p> |
