A plant separating fatty and dense materials from water, employing a closed interceptor with a system raising separated water by application of compressed air, is new. The sludge interceptor (5) contains a subsequently-inserted pressure vessel for interception (10). It is connected to the feed side, and has a compressed air connection. An outlet line (11) rises from its lowest point. The separator (12) in contact with the through flow is connected to the emptying line. The separator includes a conventional through-flow chamber (13) for separation. Lower down, the drain valve (18) opens into the filter chamber (14). This contains a disposable, flat filter, beneath which a connection to the interception vessel (10) can be shut off. Preferred features: the aqueous phase drain of the separator (12) flow chamber (13) is connected into the floating material separator (6) of the old plant. The flat filter comprises a fleece cut-out, on a coarse sieve (17) in a pull-out drawer. The interceptor drain riser (11) is laid inside the supply line (4) to the interceptor. This line is employed for emptying, on reaching high level. It is led to the separator (12) and has an air vent which can be shut off
