METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONVERTING TWO-DIMENSIONAL/STEREO IMAGES

PURPOSE: A method and a system for converting two-dimensional/stereo images are provided to convert a two-dimensional image into a stereo image using information about the velocity, direction and distance of a moving object between frames. CONSTITUTION: Among two-dimensional input images, the image of the current frame(61) is set as one side of a stereo image. A motion is detected from the image of the current frame and images of frames delayed to the Nth frame to divide the motion picture into a background image and a moving object. The velocity, distance and direction(64) of the motion of the moving object are calculated. A distance between the moving object and a camera is obtained from the motion velocity and extracted camera parameters. The image of the moving object is synthesized using the motion velocity, direction and distance. The synthesized image and the background image are synthesized to be set as the other side of the stereo image.
