<p>A system and method are disclosed for inserting interactive content into a TV signal by relying on a portion of the TV signal (e.g., closed captioning data) to dynamically and automatically incorporate pertinent interactive content into the TV signal. In one embodiment, a closed captioning decoder (34) decodes the closed captioning information being transmitted along with the TV signal. A processor (36) compares the decoded data with an index of terms and/or phrases. If a match is found, the processor retrieves corresponding ITV data (either the interactive content information itself or suitable ITV data) and transmits the data to an ITV data encoder (37), which encodes the content into the TV signal prior to broadcast.</p> |
