The regulation unit incorporates a device for selective changing of the air pressure in the pneumatic springs (6,7,8,9). The load on individual vehicle wheels (2,3,4,5) is detected by a sensor system (20,21), and the springs are adjusted dependent upon the measured wheel loads. The system incorporates sensors to detect tire pressures, deformations in the side walls of the tires, or tensions in the suspension (19) of individual wheels, or whether changes in wheel load are caused by acceleration/ deceleration, or by cornering or transverse movements.
