The present invention discloses a novel polypeptide - human G-protein subunit 9.46 and a polynucleotide encoding the same, as well as a nethod of producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technique. The present invention also discloses nethods of using the polypeptide in treatment of various disease, such as disease associated with functional disturbance of numerous hormone receptors, various tumor, pain, cough, asthema, diarrhoea, constipation, gastrointestinal tract/urinary tract cramp, psychogenic illness (fidgety, illusion, anxiety), acute poisoning due to analgesic such as morphine (respiratory depression) and so on. The present invention also discloses an antagonist against the polypeptide and the therapeutic use of the same. The present invention also discloses the use of such polynucleotide encoding human G-protein subunit 9.46.
