Excavation walls are secured by anchors with tension members in tubes extending to the walls. The ground behind the excavation walls in areas about the free anchor length, is drained by extracting ground water penetrating into the tubes where the anchors pass through the wall. The tension members are partially contained in partially water-permeable tubes, which extend to the walls where they act as water outlets.
