PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is capable of preventing the degradation of image quality such as the blur of a contour and the blot of color at the time of displaying a moving picture and also which is capable of obtaining high luminance when the device is highly defined. CONSTITUTION: A scanning pulse is successively applied from a scanning electrode G1 to a scanning electrode Gn by a scanning circuit 31. In accordance with this, voltages for performing assigning intensity levels are applied to signal electrodes DR1 to DRm, DG1 to DGm and DB1 to RBm based on a video data by a hold circuit 32. Moreover, just before a time when the writing of a next frame is performed, a light emission instructing voltage is applied to row electrodes 35 by a row driving part 35 and column voltages are applied to all of the electrodes of DR1 to DRm, DG1 to DGm and DB1 to DBm by a column driving part 36 at the same time when the voltage is applied to the row electrodes 35 at column electrodes CR-1 to CRm, CG1 to CGm and CB1 to CBm. As a result, light emission of three colors of red, green and blue are simultaneously performed with respect to a pixel.
