<p>The invention provides a method for treating a patient infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) comprising raising the core temperature of the patient and then returning the core temperature of the patient to normal at least one time, wherein the core temperature is raised to a temperature range and a duration sufficient to: (1) eliminate or reduce viable HIV to an extent such that a culture of HIV from the patient is negative around three months after the core temperature of the patient has been raised and returned to normal at least one time and (2) result in an increase in the CD8 % around one month after the core temperature of the patient has been raised and returned to normal at least one time.</p> |
