The conveyor system (10) has conveyor sections (14,16) at least one of which has a support appliance (20) on which are conveyor segments (24) possessing a drive mechanism (26) and positioned behind each other. Each conveyor segment has an elongated holder on the ends of which are deflector rollers for a pulley (18). The support appliance preferably consists of two parallel support profiles (22). The holder consists of two support elements behind each other, with one fixed and the other movable. A spring element preferably a compression spring is positioned between the support elements.
