METHOD FOR RESTRICTING COMMUNICATION THROUGH MEDIA ACCESS CONTROL ADDRESS

PURPOSE: Method for restricting communication through media access control address is provided to restrict an access of host terminal by means of non authentic external terminal using media access control(MAC) address in Ethernet switch. CONSTITUTION: A primary control portion(10) takes charge of an application class 7 so as to control a general operation of packet switch, especially to carry out security commands input into the packet switch as such. MAC ports 20a-20n are connected to a different packet switch or a router or a personal computer etc. and output data packet sending/receiving commands into a sending/receiving portion(30) by carrying out a standard MAC control. When requiring a communication a data packet is received through at least one port of a plurality of ports of packet switch. MAC source address and MAC object address are read which is included in the received data packet. Access vectors are detected which are corresponded to the MAC source address and MAC object address in an address table(62) preconstructed to store a registered MAC addresses. The communication is blocked by nonmaching between the access vectors of the MAC source address and MAC object address.
