Formulations for use in an inhaler device comprise carrier particles having a diameter of at least 50 žm and a mass median diameter of at least 175 žm, active particles and an additive material which can promote release of the active particles from the carrier particles on actuation of the inhaler device. The carrier particles may be dextrose or lactose and may have a fissured surface. The additive material may be an amino acid, for example leucine, a phospholipid, for example soya lecithin, or magnesium stearate. The formulation may further comprise fine excipient particles which may be of the same material as the carrier particles. The active particles may be one or more therapeutically active agents, for example salbutamol sulfate, budesonide or beclomethasone dipropionate. |
