摘要 PURPOSE: A flow control device of a power steering and a method thereof are provided to prevent catch-up by increasing flow rate from a pump momentarily in steering suddenly during high-speed traveling, and to stabilize a system by reducing the flow rate of the pump slowly after steering suddenly. CONSTITUTION: A flow regulator improves steering performance by controlling flow from a pump according to vehicle speed proportionally. The vehicle speed and RPM(Revolution Per Minute) of a wheel are detected with a vehicle speed sensor and a wheel RPM sensor(S101). The rpm of the wheel is detected to be more than the critical value(S102), and the flow rate of the oil pump is increased momentarily with operating a solenoid valve in case of the rpm of the wheel to be over the critical value in steering suddenly(S103). The catch-up owing to shortage of output flow is prevented with compensating the flow in steering suddenly. An electronic control unit stabilizes the system by reducing flow slowly after increasing flow(S104). The flow rate is controlled proportionally according to vehicle speed in case of the rpm of the wheel to be less than the critical value(S105).
