HOLOGRAPHIC DIGITAL STORAGE AND REPRODUCTION SYSTEM AND DATA CODING/DECODING METHOD

PURPOSE: A holographic digital storage and reproduction system and a data coding/decoding method are provided to increase code rate while maintaining reproduction error rate of above a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION: A holographic digital storage and reproduction system includes a group setting block(132) for dividing external input data into N bits to classify a predetermined number of groups, a coding block(134) for converting each block data N in each of the groups into N+1 to code it and providing coded input data including the coded multiple block data items to an object beam processing path, and a means(152) for processing each reproduction intensity value of a reproduction signal output from a storage medium(119) into a multi-order term in case of reproduction mode and removing the maximum value and minimum value for each block to calculate variance and standard deviation. The system further has a group division block(156) for calculating the average value of the variance and comparing the average value with variance value of each block to divide block data into groups, and a decoding block(158) for giving 0 or 1 to the maximum value or minimum value of each of the divided blocks, converting each block of N+1 bits into N bits to decode the N bits.
