PURPOSE: An Internet-based file retrieval service is provided to remove repeated processing and save time consumption by retrieving an information database in response to retrieval conditions inputted by a user. CONSTITUTION: A subscriber database(50) stores information about subscribers. An information database(60) stores file information existing in the Internet. A web server(72) provides a home page(80) to a user connected via the Internet. A file retrieval robot(74) retrieves all sites on the Internet to process file information retrieved from the sites into the information database(60). A file compensating robot(71) accesses information in the information database(60) established by the file retrieval robot(74) to cancel information having access errors over allowable numbers from the information database(60). A file retrieval engine(73) retrieves the information database(60) in response to retrieval conditions inputted by a user, and provides the user with a result of retrieval.
