A golf club head 10 comprises a face section 12 wherein the polymer surface has a storage compression modulus of less than 50,000 lb/in<SP>2</SP>, at 70{F when impacting a golf ball to produce a strain rate of less than 1000 in/in/sec. Preferably the polymer surface is selected from the group consisting of ionomers, polyamines, polyamides, polyetheramides, nylons, fluoroelastomers, polyurethanes, polybutadiene rubbers and co-polymers thereof. Optionally the golf club head is a wood or an iron golf club head and may be attached to a shaft. |
