PURPOSE: A software distribution method and system are provided to cause Internet or computer users to freely use software in an inexpensive price, and to cause a software developer to reduce the software developing costs. CONSTITUTION: First, a computer user desiring to use software gives an order to a software provider. Then, the software provider provides the user with the software. Next, the user installs the software. Then, the user stores the usage specification of the software when using the software. Next, the software provider demands payment of the user based on the usage specification. To this end, the software distribution system comprises a user DB server, an index storage server, a usage specification checking unit, a usage specification storage server and a web server.
