PURPOSE: An autotensioner of a timing belt for an internal combustion engine is provided to reduce expenses and parts with simple structure, to prevent oil leakage by using a bellofram, to improve starting property at low temperature and high speed follow-up, and to improve working efficiency by assembling an engine with center pivot type. CONSTITUTION: An autotensioner(1) is composed of a compression spring(4), a check ball(5), a piston(6) and a rod(7) installed in a pressure chamber(3) of a cylinder body(2). A retainer(8) is inserted to the end of the compression spring, and a coil spring(9) is mounted in the retainer to support the check ball elastically. The rod is combined with the end of the piston with sliding. Starting property at low temperature and high speed follow up are improved with expanding a passage and enlarging a gap of a ball stroke. Constant tension is operated with embedding oil regardless of starting, and a reservoir chamber is not used with using the bellofram. Oil leakage is prevented with expanding and contracting the bellofram according to oil flow, and manufacturing expenses are reduced with simplifying the structure. Working efficiency is improved with fixing a bracket by a bolt and eliminating a stop pin in assembling.
