<p>A variable speed transmission (10, 10a) including a housing (12), a drive shaft (44) having an axis of rotation (62) and rotatably supported in the housing, an output shaft (20) having an axis of rotation and rotatably supported in the housing, a first pulley (64, 70) and a second pulley (68, 70) both having a common axis of rotation (61), a third pulley (42, 42a) having an axis of rotation (62) and rotatably attached to the drive shaft, and a belt (40). The output shaft is operatively connected to the drive shaft. The first pulley and the second pulley each have a variable pitch diameter and changes in the first and second pulley variable pitch diameters being inversely proportional.
