PURPOSE: An optical system of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) projector is provided to reduce the thickness of the entire system by cutting the component length of an optical system. CONSTITUTION: An optical system of an LCD projector consists of: first and second dichroic mirrors(38,40); a first PBSP(Polarizing Beam Split Prism,54A) corresponding to the reflection surface of the second dichroic mirror; a second PBSP(54B) corresponding to the transmission surface of the second dichroic mirror; a third PBSP(54C) opposed to the first PBSP; first to third LCD panels(56A,56B,56C) corresponding to each reflection surface of the first to third PBSPs; a dichroic prism(58) among the first to third PBSPs; and a projection lens system(60) positioned on the transmission surface of the dichroic prism. The projection lens system including plural lenses has a full-reflecting mirror additionally to reduce the component length of the optical system. The L-shaped projection lens system has not optical unit at the upper part. Thereby, the component length of the optical system is reduced. |
