PURPOSE: A system for managing electricity in a home or an office is provided to previously prevent an electrical fire, due to an arc or the overheat of electric wires, by installing an intelligent outlet to check the state of each branch circuit in a home or an office and an electric management part to communicate with the intelligent outlet through a power line modem. CONSTITUTION: A system for managing electricity in a home or an office is composed of a branch circuit(L2), intelligent outlets(10,11), a home/office electric management part(20), a power line modem(PLM), and a monitor screen(30). The branch circuit(L2) distributes power to electric appliances(A1,A2) in a home/office if power is supplied to the home/office through an external power line(L1). Each intelligent outlet(10,11) is installed at the end of the branch circuit(L2) for power output and circuit monitoring. The home/office electric management part(20) receives the sample data of the intelligent outlets(10,11) and displays the state of the branch circuit(L2). The power line modem(PLM) executes the transmitting function of the branch circuit(L2) and a sample data transmission function. The monitor screen(30) displays the state of the branch circuit(L2) to a user according to the control of the home/office electric management part(20).
