PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic sintered compact with high hardness, high toughness, especially high wear resistance and high breaking resistance in high speed cutting of a cast iron, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: Contents of Al reduced in Al2O3 and a titanium nitride titanium carbide nitride are 1.5-10 mol% and 20-80 mol%, respectively. The remaining components are a silicon nitride and the 3a group elements in a periodic table (RE) where RE reduced in RE2O3 is 1-10 mol% of the silicon nitride. The same content of the titanium carbide-titan carbide nitride is substituted for the titanium nitride titanium carbide nitride in the above composition. The sintered compact fired at 1,600-2,000 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. |
