PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nanofiltration membrane process for producing liquid low DE starch hydrolysates having<about 25 DE and<about 5 polydispersibility index, particularly in their liquid form which are eventually substantially retrogradation free, and have lower viscosity at high dry solids compared to conventional products. SOLUTION: This invention relates to use of an aqueous composition comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of low DE starch hydrolysates having a DE of<about 25 and a polydispersibility index of<about 5, chemically derivatized low DE starch hydrolysates having a DE of<about 25 and a polydispersibility index of<about 5, and hydrogenated low DE starch hydrolysates having a DE of<about 25 and a polydispersibility index of<about 5, for the production of a solid shaped form selected from the group consisting of tablets, caplets, pills, capsules and lozenges or the production of a coated solid form. |
