PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively hold a cover to a vehicle body in case of a rear-end collision accident or a general collision accident. SOLUTION: This vehicle roof has at least one cover 3 liftable at the rear end for opening and then slidable onto a fixed vehicle roof, and cover support members 9 immovably installed on both sides of the front edge of the cover 3, bent downward and guided by elevating connecting mechanisms 11 and 14 to lift the cover front edge from a cover closing position into a cover sliding position by a control slider 13 guided in a vertically slidable manner along side guide rails 12. Each cover support member 9 has at least one locking cam 16 projected sideward and engaged with a facing receiver 27 of the control slider 13 in the cover sliding position.
