PURPOSE: A display unit of an air conditioner is provided to display the running state of an air conditioner in detail by using message display by an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel. CONSTITUTION: A display unit of an air conditioner consists of a power supply(90), a remote controller signal receiver(96) receiving a remote controller key signal from a user, a key input unit(93) selecting each mode of an air conditioner, and a microcomputer(50) controlling the load and the current running state of an air conditioner to perform a mode corresponding to an input key signal. The display unit has a message display(99) as a display unit for displaying the current state of an air conditioner. The message display includes plural LCD icons and a dot matrix. The icons are made into a single dot on the message display and displayed or not under control of the microcomputer. If the microcomputer outputs a signal for displaying a running icon, the running icon is displayed on the message display. Thereby, a user checks the current state of an air conditioner exactly.
