PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter material for air filters which can simultaneously remove a gaseous component (especially a gaseous organic substance) and dust floating in the atmosphere. SOLUTION: A composite material comprising an adsorbent 6 sandwiched between at least two porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) films 1,2 bonded with an adhesive 5 is used. Preferably, the adhesive is arranged in a state of scattered dots between the porous PTFE films in an amount of 5 g/m2 or more but not more than 20 g/m2.
