PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote the vertical replacement of washing matters in washing or rinsing to attain a uniform washing or rinsing. SOLUTION: When a pulsator is normally and reversely rotated in washing operation, this rotation is performed in a drive pattern as changes both on-time and rotating speed, including a pattern of driving in one direction at a high rotating speed for a short on-time and then in the reverse direction at a low rotating speed for a long on-time and a pattern of driving in the normal and reverse directions at the same on-time for the same on-time. According to this, the washing matters can be gradually vertically replaced and washed with less washing unevenness. Since the time of a strong water flow is short, a large splash can be also avoided.
