The extension cable device (1) comprises a housing (3) with an opening (6), a rotatable winch inside the housing, an electrically conductive alternating current cable (13) wound onto the winch, with a part extending outwards through the housing opening and an electrical plug (21) at its free outer end. A mechanism automatically rolls up the cable and a device blocks in one direction the rotation of the winch. Release mechanism annuls the blocking effect. The housing has a further opening (7) and contains a further rotatable winch on which a further cable (15) is wound. This second cable also has a counter plug (23) at its free outer end. The two cables are electrically coupled. The second cable has its own automatic roll-up device, blocking and release mechanisms.
