PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically allocating a band by a sound property and a method therefor are provided so that quality of service can be improved by automatically allocating the band to a sound packet requiring a packet transmission delay and a minimum packet loss suitable for a load and processing level based on collected network information and device information and the other packets. CONSTITUTION: A network load monitoring unit(100) maintains a network topology and link state information, periodically monitors a network state, and checks network information for efficient code allocation. An apparatus monitoring unit(110) maintains using state information of an apparatus, periodically monitors a using state of the apparatus, and checks apparatus using information for the efficient code allocation. An information collector(120) generates a judgement value according to the information from the network loading monitoring unit(100) and the apparatus monitoring unit(110). A sound packet detector(150) divides packets into sound packets and the other packets according to header information, and collects the header information of the sound packets. An automatic band allocator(130) allocates a final band according to the sound property information of the packet from the sound packet detector(150) and the judgment value from the information collector(120). A packet processor(180) processes the packets stored in a sound packet storing unit(160) and an other packet storing unit(170).
