PURPOSE: A communication service apparatus and method capable of performing a real-time interactive communication with an arbitrary e-mail user is provided to increase the convenience of communication by transmitting a transmitter/receiver to an e-mail receiver who wants to perform a communication through an e-mail, and by enabling the e-mail receiver to open an attached file capable of clicking the transmitter/receiver transmitted in the form of an attached file. CONSTITUTION: A user connects to a multimedia communication server(200) via an Internet network through the user's terminal(20). The user terminal(20) includes a transmitter/receiver(40). The transmitter/receiver(40) includes a local ID storing unit(46) which stores an ID, a server connection unit(42) which transmits the ID to the multimedia communication server(200), a message making unit(48-1), a message receiving unit(48-2) which receives and displays the ID and message lists through the communication server(200), a data attaching unit(49) which attaches data, the other person ID input unit(44a) which inputs an ID of the other person and a communication request unit(44) which transmits the ID of the other person, messages and so on. The multimedia communication server(200) includes a receiving unit(210) which receives a server connection signal, a message list transmitting unit(216) which transmits a message list, a transmission unit(212) which transmits the transmitter/receiver(40) and a control unit(218) which controls the server(200).
